What's the difference to a regular OCR tool?
OCR tools convert documents into text — the result is unstructured running text. DokuScan goes further: the AI extracts exactly the fields you defined and returns them as a structured table. A delivery note doesn't become a wall of text — it becomes one Excel row per line item.
Do I need a separate template for every document type?
Yes — but that's the core of the concept. You define once which fields should be extracted. After that, processing runs fully automatically for every further document of the same type. Templates are unlimited and included in every package.
Does DokuScan also work with handwritten documents?
Yes. DokuScan combines OCR with AI extraction. Handwritten documents are recognized as long as the writing is legible. For uncertain fields, a confidence score is shown so you can check exactly where needed.
What formats can I export to?
Excel (XLSX), CSV and JSON. Column names exactly match the field names you defined in the template. JSON is ideal for your own integrations or further processing via script.
Is there an API?
Yes, the Business package (€79 / 2,000 scans) includes API access. This lets you integrate DokuScan directly into your own applications or workflows.
